Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, the cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic, is one of the most-talked-about projects. Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Yash will reportedly be seen in crucial roles. Fans are eagerly waiting for an official confirmation regarding the updates. While Ramayana will mark Yash and Sai Pallavi's debut in Bollywood, did you know, that with this project, the KGF star has become the most expensive villain ever?
Kannada actor Yash became a household name after the monstrous box office success of KGF Chapters 1 and 2. Fondly dubbed as Rocking Star, KGF's Rocky Bhai is among the highest-paid actors in the Kannada Film Industry (KFI). While Yash has always played the protagonist in his movies, KGF portrayed him as the 'Biggest Criminal,' though he played the lead role.
If the circulating reports are to be believed, Yash will be portraying the character of Demon King Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Fans have pinned high hopes on Tiwari's Ramayana and its ensemble cast after Prabhas' Adipurush turned out to be a disaster. Even, Saif Ali Khan, seen as Lankesh in the movie, got immensely trolled for Adipurush.
Undoubtedly, Demon King Ravana is regarded as the biggest-ever villain. And with Ramayana, Yash has become the most expensive villain of Indian cinema by reportedly charging a whooping amount of Rs 150 crore as his fee.
If the latest reports are anything to go by, Yash has dethroned Sanjay Dutt, Kamal Hassan, Vijay Sethupathi, Emraan Hashmi and Saif Ali Khan. Reportedly, Kamal Hassan is being paid Rs 25 crore for playing the antagonist in Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD. Vijay Sethupathi also reportedly charged Rs 21 crore for Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. On the other hand, Saif was paid Rs 10 crore for Adipurush, Emraan Hashmi for Rs 10 crore for Tiger 3 and Sanjay Dutt charged Rs 8-9 crore for KGF: Chapter 2. As per the reports, Yash is being paid Rs 150 crore for Ramayana. However, there is no official confirmation backing the claims.
Gone are those days when lead protagonists were paid the highest remuneration. With the changing trends, antagonists play an equally important role and at times even steal the limelight from the heroes. The villains have started charging equally high fees as the protagonists. Even actors playing protagonists are keen to play negative roles.
Earlier, reports surfaced that Nitesh Tiwari and his Team will go on floors this month (March). Shooting for the first instalment of the planned trilogy will commence soon with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. However, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman will be seen in a cameo role. Even Yash will have a limited screen presence. But, Yash and Sunny Deol will have major roles in the second and third part of Ramayana.
