Recently, there have been a lot of debates on the South film industry slowly taking over Bollywood. With pan-India movies like Baahubali, RRR, Hanuman, Salaar, KGF and many others doing well, it really seems South Industry is really doing well as compared to Bollywood.
However, there was a time when Bollywood was at the top of its game. Exactly 17 years back, we saw some of the best Bollywood movies, performances, debuts and the best songs the film industry has ever produced, all in 2007.
An X user recently recalled the good old golden days and wrote, “Has Bollywood ever had a year better than 2007?”
Some of the blockbuster movies that were released in 2007 include Chak De India, Om Shanti Om, Jab We Met, Welcome, Taare Zameen Par, Bhool Bhulaiya, Guru, Tararumpum, Heyy Baby, Dhamaal, Partner, Johnny Gaddaar, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Honeymoon Travels, Anwar, Dhol, No Smoking, Metro, Salaam Namaste, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Namastey London, Awarapaan, Traffic Signal, Aaja Nachle, Saawariya and Chinni Kum.
Moreover, the music we got in this year deserves to be mentioned as this is the year we got Maula Mere Maula, O re Piya, Tum se Hi, Aankhon mein Teri, Labon Ko, Ucha Lamba Kad, the entire Guru and Awarapan album, Main Jahaan Rahoon, Bol Na Halke Halke, Sajna ji Vaari Vaari and many others.
Even lesser-known films featured some wonderful songs like 'Roya Re' from 'Dhokha' and 'Jaane Kaise' from 'Raqeeb'? It seems like the mind of 90s kids is perpetually stuck in 2007 and we know the reason why.
