Imtiaz Ali known for some superb movies like Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met, and Highway is facing a crisis in his career. The journey that started with Socha Na Tha had a major breakthrough when films like Rockstar became blockbusters. But after that slowly there has been a downfall. Be it Tamasha with Ranbir Kapoor or Jab Harry Meets Sejal with Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan or his last one, the remake of Love Aaj Kal with Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan, it seems that Imtiaz Ali is going through a creative crisis and definitely needs one big hit.
Fans do want him to click because he has a unique style of filmmaking and brings closer-to-life characters alive on the screen. Despite his recent downfall, many actors still want to work with him for his past track record. During an interview, Bobby Deol revealed the times when he was eager to work with Imtiaz Ali but was cheated twice by the director.
The Gupt actor revealed that he was interested in doing Jab We Met and had discussed it with Imtiaz who had given him a nod for the film. But in between certain things happened and after Kareena Kapoor was signed as the leading lady, her then-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor was roped in to play the lead.
Bobby Deol was shocked when he came to know about it and even confronted Imtiaz about the same. History got repeated when Bobby and Imtiaz Ali decided to do Highway together but the former was replaced by Randeep Hooda.
Imtiaz Ali’s next is a biopic titled Chamkila starring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh. The movie is based on the life of popular Punjabi folk musician Amar Singh Chamkila who was also called the “Elvis of Punjab.” The movie is currently going through some legal troubles because of copyright issues.
