Actress Wamiqa Gabbi, known for her versatility and Gen Z appeal, is once again making headlines—this time for her candid insights on love, grief, and evolving relationship norms.
While promoting her upcoming film Bhool Chuk Maaf alongside Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa opened up about her personal views on marriage and romance.

‘Marriage Is Not on My Mind Right Now’
At the trailer launch event of Bhool Chuk Maaf, Wamiqa was asked about her own wedding plans. She responded with clarity, saying, “Abhi shaadi mere dimaag mein bilkul nahi hai.”
She acknowledged the common rural mindset that a man must be ‘settled’ before marriage, but emphasized, “My family isn’t like that. I have different plans.”
Learning Through Grief and Heartbreak
In a heartfelt interview with Cosmopolitan India, Wamiqa reflected on how the pandemic reshaped her emotional understanding.
“Earlier, I rejected grief like an unwanted family member,” she shared. “But after a breakup during the pandemic, I learned that you don’t need to be in pain to be empathetic. Peace and compassion can co-exist.”
Introducing ‘Premiqa’: A Believer in Love
Known for being a romantic at heart, Wamiqa has affectionately renamed herself “Premiqa” on social media. She explained, “When I heard the song ‘Premiqa,’ I felt that’s who I want to be—even at 70, I want to live with and spread love.”
She also recalled her first kiss as a teenager, describing it as sweet, innocent, and unforgettable.
On Live-In Relationships in India
Touching on the evolving acceptance of live-in relationships, Wamiqa said, “It’s a long journey. One film can’t change mindsets overnight. But small efforts matter.”
She added that despite increased openness, strong family bonds still influence how relationships are perceived, saying, “We’re deeply connected to our families. Change is happening, but slowly.”
