Actor Vijay Deverakonda has refuted claims of filing police complaints against trolls criticizing his recent release, 'The Family Star'. The film, which hit screens on April 5, received mixed reviews from audiences, with some fans praising it while others criticizing it.
Dismissing rumours of legal action through his manager, Vijay clarified that he has taken no such step.
Film reporter Haricharan Pudipeddi took to his X handle on Wednesday and shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp chat with the actor. In the screenshot, he shares a tweet that claims Vijay has filed a police complaint against those sharing negative reviews of Family Star. The tweet is accompanied by a picture of Vijay and the police at what looks like a press conference.
When asked if there was any truth to the same, Vijay replied, “Nope.” He then clarified that it's an old picture, from “Covid times.”
Meanwhile, 'The Family Star' producer Dil Raju has advocated for a three-day ban on reviews and social media reactions following a film's release. In an interview with TV9, he referenced a court directive in Kerala and suggested a similar measure for the betterment of the industry. Dil Raju emphasized the importance of audience opinions while urging viewers to experience the film firsthand before forming judgments.
Directed by Parasuram Petla, 'The Family Star' marks the inaugural collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. The film boasts a supporting cast including Abhinaya, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi, and Ravi Babu, with Rashmika Mandanna making a special appearance.
Produced by Dil Raju, this multilingual release in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi garnered Rs 16 crore at the domestic box office within its first five days of release.
