Almost after a decade since Prince Dance Group from Odisha mesmerized the whole world with their extraordinary performance, a group of 13 tribal boys from the remote Malkangiri district of the State have again won the hearts of millions by their dancing prowess at a popular a reality show.
The boys swept the audience off their feet at Sony Entertainment Television’s reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’ by showcasing their amazing skills in a fusion of martial arts and dance.
The group is receiving accolades not just for their dancing abilities, but also for their zeal to fight adversaries.
The young members of the group belonging to ‘Bonda’ tribe, who live in the hills of Malkangiri district, proved that extreme poverty and rural upbringung are not an impediment to make a mark in the world scene while following a passion.
Coming from the ‘Swabhimaan Anchal’ of Malkangiri district, once a cut-off region, this group of orphan boys have qualified for the second round of the national level talent show after displaying their daredevil skills in the first round.
Their journey began when Binash Mishra recognised these boys' potential. He not only took the initiative to educate them, but also oversaw their training in martial arts, kung fu, karate, and judo with the support of All Odisha Martial Arts Association (OAMAA).
“When I noticed these children's potential, I brought them to the training centre to stay and learn Martial arts. Their abilities have improved over time which aided them in achieving national prominence,” said trainer Binash.
Despite the fact that their talent had caught the attention of some in the State before, they were unable to demonstrate it on a larger platform owing to their poor financial condition. However, with the support of a few benevolent people, they were able to make it to Mumbai this time to compete in the national level reality show.
“We never imagined we'd go this far. Now our ambition is to reach not only national but international platforms as well,” said Ram Madakami, a member of the group.
Mentioning that the government assistance could help them in honing their skills for bigger platforms in future, another member of the team, Nakul Kirsani said, “We performed on India's Got Talent in Mumbai and were selected for the next round. We are currently practicing for our next performance in the show.”
“We had no idea we'd reach this far. It was possible for our instructor, Binash Sir. We are hoping to perform well in the coming rounds,” added group member Arjun Khara.
