Actor Akshay Oberoi is set to make his South Indian cinema debut in the upcoming action thriller Toxic alongside superstar Yash.
Speaking about the challenges of stepping into a new industry, Oberoi emphasized the importance of understanding the language and culture to bring authenticity to his character. “Stepping into a new industry and language is both exciting and challenging. For me, it’s not just about memorizing lines in Kannada but truly understanding the essence of the language and culture to bring authenticity to my character,” he shared.
Rigorous Training for Kannada Debut
The actor is undergoing intensive language training to perfect his Kannada pronunciation and diction. With the support of expert coaches from the production team, he aims to deliver a performance that resonates with the Kannada audience. “The production team has been incredibly supportive, and Yash has been an inspiring co-star. I’m thrilled to be part of such a grand cinematic project and want to give this my best,” Oberoi added.
‘Toxic’ Shoot Underway
On March 24, Yash began the next shooting schedule for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups in Mumbai. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
The film is set for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by an intense poster featuring Yash emerging from flames, hinting at an action-packed spectacle.
Oberoi’s Upcoming Projects
Apart from Toxic, Akshay Oberoi will also be seen in Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, starring alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan.
The ensemble cast also includes Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Abhinav Sharma, Maniesh Paul, and Manini Chadha in key roles.
