Who can forget the ‘Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar, Dil Mein Baji Guitar’ stunning diva Koena Mitra? She gained immense popularity with the song and went on to star in some of the most critically acclaimed movies like ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, ‘Musafir’, ‘Road’ and ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’.
However, Mitra disappeared from spotlight at the peak of her career. She was last seen in superstar Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss season 13. The Bengali diva who had established herself in the film industry, in a short span of time, had to end her peak career due to various reasons.
During her stint at Bigg Boss, Mitra revealed the physical and emotional abuse and trauma that she endured because of her boyfriend. She revealed that she was dating a Turkish man, a senior pilot. Her possessive boyfriend allegedly kidnapped her and locked her in the bathroom.
He stopped her from attending an event because he did not like her working. He even confiscated her passport and threatened to burn it. He forced her to move to Turkey on the pretext of meeting his parents.
However, their relationship later ended, thereby leaving her traumatized for life. She has since then decided to stay single. To make things worse, her plastic surgery went horribly wrong and caused bones to swell.
During a conversation with TOI, Mitra revealed that even doctors and medicine could not do much and only prayers could help her recover. Koena also revealed that her friends rejected her and the changes on her face made it difficult for her to even smile.
The ‘Road’ actress was also convicted in a cheque bounce case and sentenced to six months in prison. Now the actress is living life in solitude, away from media glare. Fans would love to see her in another movie anytime in the future.
