Tollywood Rebel Star Prabhas’ upcoming horror-comedy The Raja Saab has faced yet another delay, disappointing fans who were eagerly awaiting its 2025 release. Initially planned for April 2025, the film was later pushed to December 5, 2025, owing to extensive post-production and VFX requirements. However, the makers have now confirmed that the project will skip the December window as well, setting a new target date during the Sankranti festive season in 2026.
New Release Date Announced
On August 28, 2025, during the trailer launch of Mirai, producer TG Vishwa Prasad officially announced that The Raja Saab will now hit theatres on January 9, 2026. This strategic shift aligns the release with the Sankranti festival, one of the most lucrative periods for Telugu cinema. The producer clarified that the decision was made to ensure uncompromised quality, as VFX-heavy sequences required additional time.
High-Stakes Box Office Clash
The new Sankranti release date sets up a major box office showdown. Prabhas’ The Raja Saab will clash with Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Naveen Polisetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. Such simultaneous big releases are expected to intensify competition but also drive audiences to theatres in large numbers.
Production Nearing Completion
Directed by Maruthi, the film stars Prabhas in a dual role alongside Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar, with Sanjay Dutt playing the antagonist. Despite earlier delays caused by a union strike, filming is expected to wrap by October 2025, with parallel VFX work ensuring readiness for the January release.
With its Sankranti slot locked, The Raja Saab now aims to deliver both festive entertainment and a strong box office performance.
