Behind this chart-topping masterpiece lies the remarkable journey of two Kashmiri musicians, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami whose passion and perseverance have given India one of its most loved tracks of the year.

From Leh to Mumbai: Chasing an Impossible Dream

According to Hindustan Times, Arslan Nizami was once a civil engineer working near Leh, while Faheem Abdullah—formerly known as The Imaginary Poet wrote songs that echoed through Kashmir’s valleys but rarely travelled beyond.

“Our music wasn’t reaching the world,” Arslan recalls. One life-altering day, he quit his job, telling Faheem, “Let’s give our music a chance.”

Convincing their families wasn’t easy. “Kashmiri parents value stability and secure jobs,” Arslan shares. Despite doubts, the duo pooled their savings and headed to Mumbai with just enough money to survive 14 days. “We gave ourselves 14 days to make something happen,” Faheem says. On the 13th day, fate intervened, they met renowned composer Tanishk Bagchi, who offered them a chance to compose Saiyaara’s title track.

‘Saiyaara’—A Dream Fulfilled

The emotional resonance of Saiyaara has touched millions, earning over Rs 100 crore globally in its opening weekend. For Faheem and Arslan, the success feels surreal. “To create music itself is a privilege. Doing it for a film? That was beyond our imagination,” Faheem reflects.

Paving the Way for Kashmiri Talent

The duo now dreams of inspiring others from their homeland. “Kashmir has so much untapped musical talent. All it needs is a platform,” Faheem says with quiet pride.
