Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay ended all speculations on Friday and announced his entry into politics. The Theri actor announced a new political party titled, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, which translates to Tamil Victory Party.
While rumours have been swirling around Vijay’s political debut for quite a while now, today, the Leo actor confirmed that he would contest in the 2026 Assembly polls instead of the 2024 elections.
Soon after he made the announcement, fans went into a frenzy. While several users lauded the Varisu actor for quitting acting and stepping into politics while remaining at the top of his game, a few others are hopeful that the actor would continue to entertain the audience with his mass movies.
Meanwhile, fans have already started celebrations post the announcement and exude confidence that Vijay will succeed in politics unlike most of his counterparts.
Social media is getting flooded with glimpses of how the announcement is being celebrated by fans in Tamil Nadu.

Baahubali fame Sathyaraj lauded Vijay for keeping his promise, “I wholeheartedly salute to Thalapathy @actorvijay anna for keeping his word and taking the plunge to enter politics. Even though as a fan I will miss watching his films on the big screen, I support his decision as the world needs leaders like him.”
On the other hand, actor-director Raghava Lawrence wrote, “Congratulations Nanba on your political entry. I pray god for your success in this new journey.”

On the work front, Vijay will be next seen in a sci-fi movie, titled The Greatest of All Time. Helmed by Venkat Prabhu, Vijay will be seen in a dual role and is currently shooting for the same. Undoubtedly, the movie will emerge as the biggest blockbuster as fans won’t leave the chance to show their love for Thalapathy Vijay.
