Tandav
The much-anticipated second season of Tandav, the political thriller starring Saif Ali Khan, has been officially cancelled. Actor Dino Morea confirmed that the series did not receive the necessary approvals to proceed, ending speculation about its return.
Actor Dino Morea Reveals Cancellation Reason
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Dino Morea reflected on the show’s impact and the reasons behind the cancellation. “This was a show we did for Amazon, and it caused a lot of problems. Tandav was based on politics, yes, but it was a fantastic show. The second season wasn’t made because they didn’t get permission,” he said. His statement suggests that external factors played a significant role in halting the project.

Controversy and Legal Issues
Tandav, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in January 2021, received critical acclaim for its depiction of political power struggles. However, the series faced intense backlash over a scene featuring a modern portrayal of Lord Shiva delivering a satirical monologue, which some groups found offensive.
The controversy led to multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) being filed against the show's creators, including director Ali Abbas Zafar and Amazon Prime Video executives. Protests erupted in several states, with calls for legal action against the makers. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting intervened, prompting the show's team to issue a public apology and remove the controversial content.

Amazon Prime Video has not released an official statement regarding the cancellation. Other cast members and the production team have also remained silent on the matter.
