Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has filled excitement among moviegoers after confirming a standalone movie on Suriya's menacing character Rolex, from Vikram. During a recent Q&A session with aspiring filmmakers at the Koogai Library in Chennai, the Leo director shared insights into his filmmaking craft and his vision for Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). While answering around 40-50 questions, Lokesh also offered updates on his upcoming films where he confirmed a standalone movie on Rolex.
Notably, LCU includes stars like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, and Vijay. His cinematic universe includes movies such as Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo.
Suriya's cameo in Kamal Haasan's Vikram as Rolex was a fan favourite. Though the Kanguva actor had a brief onscreen presence, his menacing avatar of Rolex was loved by many.
During the session, Lokesh said after the character (Rolex) became a fan favourite, he felt right to delve deeper into the character.
“I kept the Rolex scene to end Vikram on a high. Now, I will make a standalone Rolex film,” said Lokesh.
Talking about LCU, Lokesh shared his long-term vision.
He said, "As the LCU universe has started, it has to be closed properly. So, the next 5 years' movies will be coming under the LCU universe."
Meanwhile, he also dropped a hint about making a sequel to Leo, titled Parthiban. He also expressed his interest in expanding Leo's storyline while sharing the challenges faced during the filming of the Thalapathy Vijay-starrer. However, as Vijay has already announced his retirement from acting with his last project being with H Vinoth, the sequel seems to be unlikely.
Well, the confirmation of a standalone movie on Rolex has certainly filled excitement among all.
Currently, Lokesh is preparing for Coolie, which marks his first collaboration with Thalaivar Rajinikanth. The ensemble cast includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir and Upendra, with Aamir Khan's cameo.
