Rajamouli’s RRR impressed all and became a global phenomenon. The film starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles ruled the box office and broke records after its release in March 2022. RRR went on to create history by winning an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Following this, there have been murmurs about the sequel with reports that the film would be shot in Africa. Reports also suggest that Rajamouli may or may not return to helm the film but if he doesn’t, he would supervise the one directing it.
However, SS Rajamouli finally reacted to RRR2 during his recent visit to Japan as part of RRR's promotional activities.
During which the RRR maker subtly teased a potential sequel to the global hit but refrained from disclosing further details, citing it as still in the development stage.
Rajamouli's remarks during a Q&A session hinted at the existence of ideas for RRR 2, yet he emphasized the inability to share specifics at this moment. A video of Rajamouli's statements has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Rajamouli can be heard talking about RRR 2. During the Q&A session, one of the audience members asked the filmmaker about the sequel of Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer. He replied, "I have ideas but I can't share with you at this point of time."
However, the prospect of a sequel featuring the original stars seems unlikely due to Rajamouli's commitment to his upcoming project SSMB29 with Mahesh Babu, which will occupy his time for 1-2 years.
With Ram Charan and Jr NTR likely engrossed in their ventures until 2027, aligning their schedules for an RRR sequel appears challenging.
While the idea may intrigue the global audience that embraced the first instalment, the feasibility of Tarak, Charan, and Rajamouli reuniting within the next few years seems doubtful. However, fans are hopeful that Rajamouli and Ram Charan, Jr NTR will definitely come back and they will witness the magic again on the big screen.
