Sridevi and Her Lesser-Known Sister Srilatha
Sridevi and Srilatha grew up together, bound by mutual admiration and love. Srilatha was Sridevi's constant companion when the latter entered the film industry as the lead actress. She remained the unwavering support system of the actress and accompanied her to the film sets, award functions, and other events in the industry. She ensured that Sridevi never felt alone. While Sridevi captivated the audience with her mesmerised performance, Srilatha captured those moments with her personal camera like a personal photographer. She documented Sridevi's journey with high dedication. Even, there was a time when Srilatha cherished a desire to become an actor herself. However, due to unknown reasons, her dream didn't materialize. Rather, she chose to become her superstar sister's manager. She aspired to ensure her sister's success.
Even Sridevi acknowledged her sister's unwavering support throughout her journey.
Well, Srilatha was the first to marry which was a grand affair attended by several dignitaries from politics as well as film industry. Even after marrying, Srilatha continued to reside in Chennai maintaining a strong bond with Sridevi.
Mother's Death Caused Rift!
However, a rift between the sister duo reportedly began soon after their mother's demise.
According to reports, Sridevi and Srilatha's mother underwent surgery. However, due to medical negligence at the hospital, she suffered from memory loss and other complications. This ultimately led to her death. Seeking justice, Sridevi filed a case against the hospital seeking justice and eventually received a compensation of Rs 7 crore.
Reportedly, this financial settlement led to discord between the siblings. If the reports are anything to go by, Srilatha expected a share from the financial settlement, however, Sridevi didn't give her a share from the compensation she received. As a result, Srilatha took legal action and the court ruled that she was entitled to Rs 2 crore.
This judgment led to a fallout between the once-inseparable sisters. They cut off connections and maintained distance for years.
