Sonakshi Sinha and Vijay Varma-led Dahaad have hit the OTT platform. For the first time, Sona is playing the role of a police officer in this web series created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar. The series is about sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati who works with a no-nonsense attitude in a world mostly dominated by males along with her colleagues Kailash Parghi (Sohum Shah) and chief Devi Laal Singh (Gulshan Devaiah).
A parallel track of Vijay Varma, who plays the role of a professor in Mandwa, Rajasthan, runs as Anjali comes face to face with a series of killings of young girls and now the hunt is on for the criminal. Vijay’s Professor Anand Swarnakar teaching Hindi in the class and then moving around the town distributing books for the underprivileged has a mystery surrounding him.
With Dahaad, Sonakshi has managed to finally get a role where she gets the opportunity to prove her mettle. Until now, she has always worked with big stars like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn, and as expected the movie was dominated by these superstars.
Talking about playing a cop for the first time Sonakshi Sinha during her recent interview said that her father Shatrughan Sinha was elated when she shared her picture in the uniform of a police officer with him. According to Sona, the Kalicharan actor had always wanted his daughter to become a police officer.
Talking about her character, the Kalank actress said that it was a challenging role as she is playing a strong-willed and determined girl but it helped her push boundaries. She enjoyed doing action and just as in the series she loves to ride a bike in real life.
Throwing light on why she is seen less in movies nowadays, the actress revealed that she was getting repetitive roles and hence did not want to repeat herself in the same type of characters. So when the script of Dahaad came to her, she immediately knew that it was something different that she would love to do.
