Ever since the announcement that the iconic 90s Indian superhero TV series Shaktimaan would be adapted into a feature-length trilogy, fans have been eagerly waiting for updates. However, the wait has stretched on for years, with no official confirmation about who will don the superhero’s cape. Recently, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, the OG Shaktimaan, revealed that the project has run into a roadblock.
Production Hits a Snag
Speaking to IANS, Mukesh Khanna admitted that while the movie is poised to enthral audiences, it has encountered an obstacle. He refrained from disclosing specific details, offering only a vague explanation. Still, he expressed optimism that the film will eventually make it to theatres, emphasising its importance.
Who is Playing Shaktimaan- Ranveer Singh or Allu Arjun?
Speculation over the film’s lead has been intense. While some reports claimed Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun was in talks to play the iconic role, these rumours were dismissed in June by director Basil Joseph, who asserted:
“No one else is doing Shaktimaan. It is Ranveer Singh and no one else. Whoever is spreading rumours about his replacement has their agenda,” Basil was quoted as saying.
Interestingly, Mukesh Khanna has not commented directly on this latest twist. He had previously described Allu Arjun as an ideal choice for the role while repeatedly expressing doubts about Ranveer Singh’s suitability as the superhero.
Fans Left Waiting
For now, no official statement has been made by the film’s makers, and the delay is bound to disappoint fans who have been looking forward to the movie for years. Whether the roadblock is resolved soon or not, Shaktimaan remains one of the most anticipated superhero films in Indian cinema.
