2024's supernatural horror movie Shaitaan emerged as a blockbuster despite being an adaptation of 2023's Gujarati movie Vash. Starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyothika and Janki Bodiwala, and helmed by Vikas Bahl, became the second highest-grosser of the year. After the success, the makers decided to come up with a sequel. Earlier, reports surfaced that writer Aamil Keeyan Khan already started scripting for Shaitaan 2. However, the latest development suggests that Ajay Devgn is 'confused' about selecting the script after Khan is ready with an original script.

Why Confusion?
According to the latest reports, Aamil Keeyan Khan is ready with the original script of Shaitaan 2. However, Ajay Devgn is also considering making a sequel by adapting the Gujarati movie Vash Level 2 directly. Now, Devgn has two scripts- one original script penned by Khan and the second script of Vash Level 2.
Notably, Vash Level 2 is scheduled for release in August 2025. If the reports are anything to go by, Devgn will take the call of locking the script from the two scripts after the release of Vash Level 2.
According to the report by Mid-Day, a source shared that Vash Level 2 begins after 12 years of the first part with the protagonist realising that the evil force hasn't entirely left his daughter.
The source told the portal, "Unlike Vash, which saw the protagonist's wife and son dying, Shaitaan had a happy ending with Ajay's character saving his daughter and reuniting with his family. As the two endings were different, Shaitaan's makers decided to pen an original story for the second instalment, while retaining the back story."
Further, the source also revealed that Ajay Devgn and his team have been in talks with Vash Level 2's writer-director Krishnadev Yagnik. There are high chances of purchasing the rights of the Gujarati film as well if it turns out to be a box-office success. In that case, Khan would possibly adapt Vash Level 2 for the Hindi film audience.
However, there is no official confirmation backing the claims. Fans have to wait to know whether Ajay Devgn opts for the original script or the adaptation.

According to earlier reports, Shaitaan 2 will hit the floors in 2026 and Vikash Bahl will be at the helm. Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, R Madhavan and Janki Bodiwala will reprise their respective roles.
