Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is one of the top names in Bollywood. For more than two decades now, Salman is holding the mantle of action hero. However, after a brief role in Biwi Ho To Aisi, Sallu established himself as a romantic hero in films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Baaghi, Saajan and Hum Aapke Hai Kaun. It was 1995's Veergati in which for the first time he attempted a full-fledged action film. But, the movie miserably failed. However, in 2009, Wanted cemented his position as an action star, and after that, he mostly worked in action films.

Notably, Wanted was released on September 18, 2009. But before that Salman was struggling at the box office. Between 2000 to 2009, Sallu had 18 movies of which only a few were hits. Fans are well aware that Wanted was the Hindi remake of Mahesh Babu's Pokiri and helmed by Prabhu Deva. But, did you know Salman was not the first choice of producer Boney Kapoor?

Boney Kapoor first approached Shah Rukh Khan for the lead role. However, SRK rejected the offer, reportedly, saying that no one could do better than Mahesh Babu.

After that, the producer offered the movie to Salman and the actor accepted it as it was offered by Boney. And, the rest is history.

The opening day collection of Wanted was Rs 5.15 crore. While the lifetime domestic box office collection was Rs 60.50 crore, the worldwide collection is estimated to be around Rs 93 crore. The flick was made at a budget of Rs 35 crore and it registered a profit of 72 per cent. Despite the huge success, the movie couldn't match the success of Mahesh Babu's Pokiri as it was made at a mere budget of Rs 13 crore and the lifetime collection was over Rs 36 crore. 

Well, it is well known that Shah Rukh achieved stardom by accepting different movie offers those were initially rejected by Salman, Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan. But, SRK's rejection turned the fate of Salman as Wanted proved to be a game-changer for the Tiger actor.
