Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's iconic pose of extended arms is the most beloved gesture of Indian cinema. His signature pose is synonymous with his charismatic on-screen presence. SRK introduced the pose in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge's 'Tujhe Dekha' song. Then after, he has repeated his signature move in multiple movies. The Jawan actor's signature pose has become an integral part of his image. But, do you know what inspired his signature move?

Well, it's definitely not Laal Singh Chaddha, wherein the movie showed junior Aamir Khan's unique dance moves inspired SRK and he became popular with his signature move.

Recently, Shah Rukh was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Locarno Film Festival 2024. After receiving the award, SRK shared some insights about his acting journey with the audience and host.

What Shah Rukh Khan's iconic pose?

Speaking about his iconic arm pose, the Kal Ho Na Ho actor said, "I think what happened is in Indian cinema, especially during the 90s, dip was a real thing."

He then stood up and asked the audience to hum a song for him so that he could show the dip.

The Devdas actor added, "I couldn’t do dip. Because of this, I was quite ashamed of myself. All night, I kept practising it in my room. The next morning, I remember saying to my choreographer Saroj Khan, ‘Ma’am, ready?’ She said, ‘Yes, but as you cannot do dips, you just stand there and put your arms out. I did dips for her and she was like, ‘No, no, don’t do it. It doesn’t look nice on you.’ So, she didn’t let me do the dip and I had to put my arms out.”

SRK shares his success mantra

At the event, the Pathaan actor recalled watching Dilip Kumar's Devdas on television. He watched the movie while pressing his mother's feet, "Which I have done a lot," said SRK.

"One Mantra you get for success is to keep pressing your mother's feet," he added.

Atlee has a connection with Shah Rukh's late father!

Further, the 'King of Romance' revealed that South ace director Atlee has named his son after his (SRK) father Mir Taj Mohammed Khan. Atlee and SRK teamed up for Jawan which emerged as a blockbuster in 2023. Recalling the days of shooting, the Dil Se actor said, "We had a lot of fun. Language was a bit of an issue to start off with. But then we started gesticulating. I looked at Atlee who is a wonderful guy. He incidentally also had a baby while we were making the film. He named him after my father."

King Khan hails South Cinema

Jawan was one of the first fusions of Hindi and South Indian cinema which transcended boundaries and did great business. When SRK was asked to describe the difference between Bollywood and South Cinema, the actor replied, “If you ask me, regionalising Indian cinema is wrong, to be honest."

Furthermore, he added, "It's just that our country is so vast that we don't have different dialects across the nation, we have different languages across the nation. So, there are Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Odia and so many languages. It's all Indian cinema. For me, the greatest storytelling is in the South Indian part. They have some of the outstanding stories from Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil cinema."
