Atlee made entry in Bollywood with a bang through Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. He came with a legacy of delivering good and big hits in Southern film industry. And with Jawan he fulfilled all these expectations. The tremendous response to Jawan elevated the hopes of Atlee of spreading his wings in Bollywood and hence he produced Baby John with Varun Dhawan in the lead.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was roped in to play a cameo and it was a well highlighted special appearance. However, Baby John could not even complete its stipulated theatrical run. While Baby John was being produced Atlee came up with another script and was successful in getting Salman Khan as the lead actor for his next directorial venture.
Jawan helped SRK to deliver a superhit and brought back his career on track,.Bhaijan was also expecting the same as currently his career is also going downhill. So this collaboration was a win-win situation for both Salman Khan and Atlee. However, the commercial dynamics changed after Baby John flopped.
Salman Khan is going through a Tough Phase in his Career
Salman Khan is at the stage of his career where he cannot take much chances. His last few movies have been rejected by the audience. Even Tiger 3 released in 2023 did not match up to the expectations for the audience. He is planning to return with a bang in 2025 with AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar. Hence for him two or three big hits are very much important. That is why Salman Khan cannot take a chance right now.
Ditto with Atlee who cannot put his reputation of being a hit director at stake. And that can be the reason why the highly hyped Salman Khan-Atlee collaboration is now rumoured to be shelved. Instead, the South Indian director will collaborate with Pushpa 2 fame actor Allu Arjun.
Similarly, another South-Bollywood collaboration seems to have taken backseat. Earlier Aamir Khan was supposed to play the male lead in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film but now there is a strong buzz that he has been replaced by Prabhas.
