Reports of BTS Recording Michael Jackson’s Unreleased Tracks Are False

On August 5, 2025, BTS’ official channels shared a statement from BigHit Music addressing the widespread speculation about the group’s alleged involvement in a Michael Jackson tribute album.

The statement read: "Hello, this is BIGHIT MUSIC. We would like to address recent media reports concerning BTS’ alleged participation in a Michael Jackson tribute album." (sic)

It continued: "BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken part in any recording sessions there for the mentioned project. The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity." (sic)

The label further emphasised that they are taking “appropriate measures” to prevent the spread of false information.

"We are continuing to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of inaccurate information. We express our sincere gratitude to fans for continuously showing support for BTS. We remain fully committed to supporting the artists and their endeavours," the statement concluded. (sic)

More About the Rumours

On August 3, several media outlets reported that Paddy Dunning, owner of Ireland’s Grouse Lodge Studio, had claimed BTS recorded an unreleased Michael Jackson song at the same location where Jackson worked in 2006. According to Dunning, the alleged tribute album featured contributions from “several major global artists,” including BTS. This report quickly sparked excitement and controversy among fans.

Response From the Michael Jackson Estate

Shortly after, Michael Jackson’s estate issued a statement supporting BigHit Music’s denial. They confirmed that there had been no authorisation or involvement of BTS or any other artists, in a tribute project featuring Jackson’s unreleased material.
