Siddhant Chaturvedi may have just let slip one of Bollywood’s best-kept secrets, Ishaan Khatter is possibly joining the cast of Gully Boy 2. In a recent interview with Hesha Chimah from Varinder Chawla, Siddhant shared an anecdote that quickly turned into an unintentional casting tease.
Ishaan knew Dhadak 2 before Siddhant did
While speaking about his upcoming film Dhadak 2, Siddhant revealed he wasn’t aware of the film’s title until Ishaan informed him. “We were already shooting without a confirmed title. I met Ishaan at a screening Zoya Akhtar had hosted, and he said, ‘Oh, so you’re doing Dhadak 2.’ I had no idea,” Siddhant said, laughing.
The crossover hint
But the real twist came when Siddhant dropped a cryptic inside joke: “Do you know Akshay Kumar from Ajnabee? It’s like Dhadak 2 x Gully Boy 2,” he said, hinting at a role reversal of sorts between himself and Ishaan. While Siddhant debuted as MC Sher in Gully Boy (2019), Ishaan’s breakout came with Dhadak (2018). The comment sparked speculation about Ishaan stepping into the Gully Boy universe.
What we know so far
Dhadak 2, directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Dharma Productions, stars Siddhant alongside Triptii Dimri in a story exploring caste and love, adapted from the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Nothing official has been confirmed about Gully Boy 2, but Siddhant’s teaser has definitely piqued fans’ curiosity.
A sequel worth waiting for?
With Zoya Akhtar yet to make any announcements, fans now have more reason than ever to watch closely especially if two major youth icons of Bollywood are about to swap cinematic universes.
