Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr has earned worldwide popularity for his iconic characters of Iron Man/Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is one of the most loved superheroes of the MCU and has received numerous awards for his captivating performances in the entire Avengers series. However, the iconic character perished in 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame' leaving fans disappointed. However, high hopes were pinned on the makers that they would resurrect Iron Man in the upcoming instalments. Well, here's a good news for the fans who were eagerly waiting for Downey's comeback in the Avengers.
Downey is back to the new Avengers! However, there's a twist. Downey is back to Avengers not in his iconic superhero character of Iron Man/Tony Stark but as a supervillain.
Avengers 5 and 6 directors Anthony and Joe Russo announced on Saturday night that Downey will play famed Marvel villain and Fantastic Four foe Doctor Doom. The announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con.

When Downey was revealed as Doctor Doom on the SDCC Hall H Stage, he (Downey) said to the crowd, "Same Mask, New Task."
The titles and release dates for the next two Avengers films were announced at the SDCC event. Avengers: Doomsday will hit the theaters in May 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in May 2027.
The Fantastic Four in Avengers!
Adding to the excitement, the MCU panel also confirmed that the characters in The Fantastic Four will also appear in the Avengers movies.
Notably, the cast for the MCU reboot of The Fantastic Four includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
