Rohit Shetty Discloses His Plans of Expanding Cop Universe

Disclosing his future plans of expanding Cop Universe, filmmaker Rohit Shetty recently confirmed sequels to Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan-starrer Simmba and Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer Sooryavanshi.

During a recent interview with Komal Nahta on his Podcast Gamechangers, Shetty said, "Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aaenge. Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, that's why we created that universe."

The Inception of Cop Universe

Further in the interview, Shetty also talked about how he had no plans to create Cop Universe initially and how the idea of connecting all the films originated.

According to the Chennai Express helmer, when he made Singham in 2011, he didn't expect the film to become such a huge brand. However, the idea of connecting all the films came into his mind while scripting Simmba, which eventually led to introducing Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi and expanding the Cop Universe. While Sooryavanshi saw the powerful cameos of Ajay's Singham and Ranveer's Simmba, Singham Again brought together a host of characters, both new and old.

He also clarified that his team had formulated the character arcs of new entrants Deepika and Tiger and how they would have extended parts in future films.
