Indian actors romancing younger actresses on screen is a prevalent phenomenon. Be it Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Akshay Kumar, most of the actors have been paired once or more times with actresses with a huge age gap. This often sparks debate on social media. And now, the internet is fumed after reports surfaced stating that Ranveer Singh will be seen romancing a former child actor in his next, who was only 5 years old at the time of the Gully Boy actor's debut in 2010.
Currently, Ranveer Singh is prepping for Aditya Dhar's next. The big-budget flick also stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in key roles. The official announcement was made by the actors themselves a couple of months back. However, recently reports surfaced that Ranveer will be paired opposite 19-year-old Sara Arjun and they will be seen romancing on-screen.
Reportedly, Sara Arjun is a former child actor and has worked extensively in the South. Her notable work includes playing the younger version of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Ponniyin Selvan (2022-23).
While there are no official updates about the cast, the report by Peeping Moon claims that the 19-year-old actress will play the love interest of Ranveer in the movie. Though her role is relatively small in this Male-dominated film, this marks her debut as a lead heroine after working for years as a child artist in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi cinema.
After the reports surfaced on Reddit's BollyBlindsNGossip subreddit, netizens were fumed. Users criticised Aditya Dhar for pairing the young actress with Ranveer.
One user wrote, "She was 5 years old when Band Baaja Baarat released." (sic)
Another wrote, "Eww 39 year old romancing a teenager!?? How did they think this was ok.” (sic)
While the makers are yet to comment on the report, users seem to be fumed over it.
