Ranbir Kapoor delivered the biggest blockbuster of his career with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. However, the movie, also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in major roles, ignited a debate on social media with several celebrities apart from commoners slamming the movie for its perceived misogyny and violence. While Vanga has already responded to the criticism, Ranbir Kapoor for the first time opened up on Animal getting condemned by moviegoers.

Ranbir cemented his place in the hearts of movie lovers with his loverboy image. However, the Brahmastra actor claimed that with Vanga's Animal, he transitioned from "a boy to a man". Much like Vanga's previous flick 'Kabir Singh', starring Shahid Kapoor, Animal also faced harsh criticism which continued for several months after its release.

During a recent interview with entrepreneur Nikhil Kamat, RK talked about the aftermath of the film's release. The Rockstar actor said that people from within the industry told him that they were disappointed as he (Ranbir) headlined the movie. Further, when the host said that movies shouldn't be a place from where society derives their sense of morality as they are only for entertainment purposes, RK said that it was their intention but was misconstrued.

Further, the Baarfi actor said that social media played a havoc. As social media users need a topic to talk about, they claim it (Animal) to be a misogynistic flick.

Ranbir said, "What happens is that the hard work that you put in… I know the director had made Kabir Singh, who also faced the same thing, the hard work gets diminished. Because it gets this tag, which isn’t true, the perception stayed with this film. So, the general public will speak very fondly about the film, but there are many people I meet, who tell me, ‘You shouldn’t have done this film, we are so disappointed in you’."

Furthermore, he added, "I quietly apologize and say, ‘Sorry I won’t do it next time.’ I don’t really agree with them, but I am in that phase of my life I don’t argue with anyone. If you don’t like my work, I will say I am sorry I will try harder next time."

Well, the Brahmastra actor further stated that though Animal lodged itself as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time, he got "very scared" when he was offered the movie and heard the story for the first time.

Revealing the reason why he gave a nod to Animal, RK said that he wanted a break free from his "good boy image" on screen.

"Animal was the correct film at the right time, to take another step up. Because I had been flatlining in the same status, so that was very important for me, for my confidence, to shift from a boy to a man in some ways,” concluded Ranbir.

Though Animal was criticised by a certain section of the audience, the flick was loved by many. The excitement among the audience after the announcement of the Animal sequel proves it.

While fans are eyeing updates on the Animal sequel, Ranbir Kapoor is busy with the shooting of Ramayana, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari. While RK is reportedly essaying Lord Ram's character, Sai Pallavi will be seen as Devi Sita. Apart from this, Yash and Sunny Deol will be seen as Demon King Ravana and Lord Hanuman's character.
