Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming magnum opus Ramayana has sparked renewed buzz after the makers unveiled the first glimpses. With this, the audience is familiar with the cast. While the first glimpses of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Demon King Ravana have triggered social media discussions, the internet is abuzz with debate over casting Kajal Aggarwal as Queen Mandodari and Sai Pallavi as Devi Sita.

Debate Over Casting Kajal as Mandodari and Sai Pallavi as Sita

The recent updates on Ramayana have introduced the audience to the cast. While Ranbir, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Sai Pallavi will be essaying Lord Rama, Ravana, Lord Hanuman, Lakshman and Devi Sita, respectively, there are several prominent actors who will be seen in pivotal roles.

However, many have voiced disappointment with the casting, especially Kajal Aggarwal essaying Queen Mandodari and Sai Pallavi as Devi Sita.

Netizens have opined that Kajal could have been far more suitable to essay Devi Sita. While a few compared the selection of Sai Pallavi as Devi Sita with the casting choice of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, several others dug up the old interview of the Maari 2 actress, where she made a controversial statement about the Indian Army.

However, despite the widespread criticism,  fans of the Amaran actress have come to her support.

This is not the first time that netizens have criticised the casting of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in Ramayana. The debate continues since the initial reports of the casting surfaced.

While the makers have yet to confirm the supporting cast, most of the associated actors re-shared the teaser of the movie. They have expressed their happiness and appreciation for being a part of the cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic.
