As per earlier reports, while Ranbir and Sai Pallavi will essay the roles of Lord Ram and Devi Sita respectively, makers were in advanced talks with KGF fame Yash for portraying the character of Demon King Ravana.

Ranbir Kapoor’s sacrifices for essaying Lord Ram’s role
As per a throwback report, Ranbir made profound sacrifices to bring in Lord Ram's purity for the movie. Back on October 10, 2023, reports surfaced that Ranbir was gearing up to portray the iconic character of Lord Ram for Nitesh's Ramayan for which he embraced a lifetime transformation.
According to close sources to the Brahmastra actor, Ranbir willingly sacrificed alcohol, and non-veg food. Moreover, he also refrained from indulging in late-night parties.
As per the report in Koimoi, Ranbir didn't make these sacrifices for mere public image. Rather, it was his dedication to feel as pure as Lord Ram. While shooting for Ramayan, the Sanju actor committed himself to a disciplined routine, abstaining strictly from alcohol and meat consumption.
Undeniably, this transformation showcased his commitment to delving deep into the character while aligning his habits with the spiritual essence of Shri Ram.

While reports are abuzz that Sunny Deol might be seen as Lord Hanuman, the latest rumours suggest that the makers are in talks with Bobby Deol for Kumbhkaran and Lara Dutta for Queen Kaikeyi. However, there is no official statement backing the claims.
While speculations are rife about Sunny, Bobby, and Lara, it has been learned that Yash has been confirmed to play Ravana in the highly anticipated movie.
Rumour mills are abuzz that Ranbir confirmed Yash playing the character of Demon King. While it is expected that Ranbir and Sai Pallavi will go on floors in March, Yash will join the team in July.
