Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's 'Pushpa: The Rise,' released in 2021, created a significant impact in the Indian film industry. Moviegoers went crazy over its storytelling, action sequences, punchlines, hook steps and songs. Its sequel, 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' is one of the much-awaited movies that fans are eagerly waiting for. However, the recent announcement by makers about the release postponement left the fans disheartened. While the new release date is locked on December 6, 2024, the makers seem to have landed in huge trouble. Surprisingly, the trouble is related to Samantha, who swayed fans with her jaw-dropping performance in 'Oo Antava' dance number.
Notably, Pushpa 2 was scheduled for theatrical release on August 15. Now, the postponement provided some breathing room to the makers. However, certain reports claim that the movie is still facing big challenges.
One major challenge for the makers is finding the right actress as a replacement for Samantha. As per reports, Devi Sri Prasad has composed an item number similar to Oo Antava. However, director Sukumar is yet to finalise the actress for the 'exceptional song'. Reportedly, Sukumar is facing trouble in finding a dance partner for Allu Arjun. While Samantha's performance in 'Oo Antava' has set the bars high, the helmer is facing difficulties in finding an apt replacement for the 'Majili' actress. A report by Cinejosh states that finding an actress as a replacement has proven a big challenge.
The report further states that while the makers were in initial talks with Janhvi Kapoor, it didn't work out as the actress is all set for her Tollywood debut with actors like Jr NTR and Ram Charan. Both Janhvi and her father Boney Kapoor are hesitant about the impact on her image for the item number.
Furthermore, Sukumar is also concerned about securing Fahadh Faasil's dates, who plays a pivotal role in the movie. Notably, Fahadh has quite a busy schedule these days with six big projects in the pipeline. For this reason, it is becoming difficult for Fahadh to commit dates for Pushpa 2 shooting. Moreover, reports have surfaced that the actor is already impatient with the delays experienced by the film.
With only five months remaining before the release date of Pushpa 2, Sukumar has a tight deadline within which he must wrap up shooting.
