Prashanth Neel's ‘Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire,’ is continuing with its phenomenal success, smashing through the Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office. The celebrated director recently shared insights into the genesis of the film's protagonist, drawing inspiration from the iconic era of Salim-Javed and Amitabh Bachchan movies.
In a candid interview with Pinkvilla, Neel unveiled the creative process behind crafting the character of Salaar, describing him as an "angry young man," reminiscent of Amitabh Bachchan's legendary portrayals in Salim-Javed classics.
Neel acknowledged his profound admiration for the iconic duo and expressed how their influence shaped his vision for Salaar.
The director explained, "Yes, I drew inspiration from that era for sure, but I also tend to write in a way where my hero has to be my biggest villain. I always make that a rule and then start writing. So probably that is how it reflects."
Neel emphasized the similarity between Salaar and his previous blockbuster, KGF, in terms of characters turning out to be formidable antagonists.
‘Salaar’ follows the story of two friends-turned-enemies, played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, set against the backdrop of the fictional city of Khansaar. The film promises an extraordinary tale of rebellion, enriched with power-packed action and impactful music.
With a stellar cast including Shruthi Haasan, Tinu Anand, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, and Garuda Ram, ‘Salaar’ released in multiple languages on December 22, captivating audiences across the globe.
