On July 20, Nag Ashwin and Prabhas’ Project K created history by being the first Indian movie to be launched on the international platform of Comic-Con, San Diego. The team unveiled the name Kalki 2898 AD at the event and even released a short teaser. It is a big-budget, supernatural movie with most of the scenes created aesthetically via VFX.
Right from the beginning, since it was announced that the movie was to be launched on such a big international platform, anticipations were very high. And true to the promise, it has certainly managed to create an impression on the minds of the global audience.
Importantly, the promoters of Kalki at Comic-Con headed by Rana Daggubati made sure that the audience do not forget that it is an Indian movie and to ensure that they kept the Indian touch intact during the launch.
From arranging a car rally just before the event to dressing up raiders in black, a lot of hype was created for this sci-fi movie that also features Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan in important roles. The whole panel was pretty much impressed when the movie was introduced with girls dressed in Indian attire and carrying diya.
From the diya dance to typical South Indian traditional music in the background, for a few minutes, the entire impact was such that everyone felt that it was some kind of an event held in India.
Although the first look of Prabhas as Kalki did not go down well with the social media users, the next one made a better impact. The movie is expected to be one of a kind and since is being highly appreciated for its VFX, it seems, it will be big enough to pull out the Baahubali superstar from the career crisis he is currently going through.
