Nag Ashwin’s futuristic sci-fi ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is shattering all the existing box office records. Collecting Rs 191.5 crores on its first day, the Rebel star Prabhas-starrer has already breached Rs 300 crore worldwide in just two days.
The dystopian science fiction film has maintained a strong box office performance in the domestic market. After earning Rs 95 crore on the opening day, the visual spectacle film earned around Rs 54 crore on its second day.
With this, the domestic box office collection has already reached Rs 149.3 crore. With another Rs 150 crore in the worldwide market, it has become a cakewalk for Kalki to surpass the Rs 300 crore in the global market. However, the official figures are yet to come out.
“Kalki 2898 AD performed well on its first day at the box office and earned an estimated Rs 95.3 crore India net. It earned around Rs 54.00 crore India net on its second day for all languages,” Sacnilk reported.
With good positive reviews, the film is expected to cross Rs 500 crore by the end of the weekend. The film is expected to see growth in its collection with the tickets selling like hotcakes on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the film is expected to take a hit due to the T20 World Cup finals but will look to cover lost ground on Sunday. The ambitious project of Nag Ashwin is an amalgamation of Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction.

Apart from Prabhas, the film also stars Big B, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. Owing to the reception by the audience, the film is soon going to return with a sequel.
