The Kashmir Files was an audacious attempt to raise the curtains from atrocities caused by Pakistan-sponsored Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and other Jihadi proxies along with local Islamists in the valley.
The Vivek Agnihotri's directorial perfectly captured the carnage against the indigenous Hindu minority living in Kashmir during 1990s which led to genocide and forced exodus of over 5 lakh Kashmiri Hindu Pandits.
It not only became a stupendous success at the box office but also earned praises from all around the country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi who suggested the maker to make more such movies and bring out suppressed truth before people.
The response towards The Kashmir Files is said to have motivated helmer Vivek Agnihotri to step ahead and come up with other instances from the past and unravel some other related facts lesser known to the public.
On April 15, Agnihotri, made the announcement of his new project titled 'The Delhi Files' through a Tweet while thanking everyone for the overwhelming response towards The Kashmir Files.
Agnihotri's Tweet read: "I thank all the people who owned #TheKashmirFiles. For last 4 yrs we worked very hard with utmost honesty & sincerity. I may have spammed your TL but it’s important to make people aware of the GENOCIDE & injustice done to Kashmiri Hindus. It’s time for me to work on a new film."
Talks are abuzz that the maker might enlighten the audience on the brutal genocide of Sikhs in his next movie. Most famously known as the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, it was an organised massacre against Sikhs following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.
As per data, 2, 800 Sikhs were killed only in Delhi during the massacre while the total figure across the country topped 3, 350.
Some others also speculate that Agnihotri might focus on 2020 Delhi riots that witnessed multiple waves of bloodshed and property destruction as a black mark on Indian democracy.
However, as the maker hasn't yet revealed the exact course of his project all have to wait with crossed fingers until he spills the beans.
