Pooja Hegde is currently one of the top actresses in the country. She has a series of big projects in multiple film industries in her kitty. Pooja Hegde is currently working for "Radhe Shyam" and Acharya in Telugu. In Hindi, she is working for "Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali" and "Cirkus. She also has "Beast" in Kollywood.
However, Pooja's journey to the top league of the actress is not a fairy tale. She has risen from a heartbreak, after her first Bollywood movie Mohenjo Daro failed miserably at the box office, to become the most sought after actress in the country.
Pooja had made her acting debut in the Tamil movie Mugamoodi in 2012, after which she did two Telugu movies Oka Laila Kosam and Mukunda. While Oka Laila Kosam fared well at the box office, the other two movies had a disastrous box-office run.

After that, she had her dream Bollywood debut in Ashutosh Gowariker's period drama Mohenjo Daro opposite Hrithik Roshan set against the backdrop of the Indus Valley civilisation. She was committed to the film and had taken a break from appearing in regional Indian movies until her Hindi film's release. She had also rejected an opportunity to work in a film directed by Mani Ratnam during the time.
She had high hopes for the movie and was very positive about it; however, it doomed at box office and she was completely heartbroken.
She was really down and took a break from Hindi movies and concentrated on her south projects and delivered many hits. However, she was determined to return back to Bollywood with a ‘sturdy second movie’ which she did with Housefull 4.
In an interview with Mid-day Pooja once said, “An actor’s first film is their showreel to the world. I was under contract, so I hadn’t signed another film during the period. Its failure was heartbreaking. Eventually, South films came along, and work attracted more work. I held off signing Hindi films because I needed a sturdy second movie. I built on the success of Housefull 4, and here I am!”
She has proved her worth with films like Duvvada Jagannadham, Maharshi, Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, Housefull 4 and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
