Tollywood's Power Star and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan recently took an indirect dig at Allu Arjun's character Pushpa Raj from Pushpa: The Rise and Pushpa 2: The Rule. During a discussion, he stated that the heroes we celebrate have changed throughout the years. Now, the hero is someone who cuts away trees and is a smuggler. While this statement left many stunned and disheartened, the producer of the Pushpa franchise recently clarified that Pawan Kalyan was 'speaking in a different context'.
Recently, during a press meet, Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers clarified that he thinks it wasn't a comment about Allu Arjun's Pushpa Raj character.
While attending a press conference to promote the sequel of Mathu Vadalara, he was asked about Pawan's statement. To this, Ravi said, “Pawan Kalyan garu was speaking in a different context. But people thought he was talking about the film. His stature is different, and he wouldn’t say anything negative that affects the film industry. He said something in the flow that has no connection to Pushpa.”
Well, not just the Pushpa franchise, fans also considered it as an indirect dig at Yash's KGF franchise. As Yash's Rocky Bhai character was also a smuggler. Though Yash's character was not related to the forest, the term 'smuggler' indicated so.
What did Pawan Kalyan say?
Earlier this month, Pawan Kalyan spoke about working with the Forest Minister of Karnataka, Eshwar B Khandre. During his discussion, he reflected on Dr Rajkumar's 1973 Kannada film Gandhaha Gudi as he discussed how the heroes we celebrate have changed throughout the years.
Pawan said, "Around 40 years ago, a hero was someone who safeguards the forest. And now, the hero is someone who cuts away in the forest and is a smuggler. Current cinema, which I’m also a part of, and I struggle to do such films, because are we sending the right message?”
“A cultural shift happened, which was interesting. What I couldn’t do in reel life, I wish to do in real life through politics,” he added.
Regarding 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' postponement
Ravi also addressed the rumours surrounding the release of the much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Ravi clarified that the release date is locked for December 6 and it will not be postponed further. He said, "Pushpa 2 has come out well. By the end of September, we’ll finish work on the second half of the film. By November, the film will be ready for release on December 6. There’s a lot of speculation surrounding it now, but we’re definite about the release date."
Well, the update regarding the release date of Pushpa 2 is certainly a breather for movie lovers who are eagerly waiting for Pushpa 2: The Rule.
