Pathaan box office collection was fake: Anil Sharma makes 'gadar' statement

Gadar 2 featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel has created a ruckus at the box office. The movie has turned out to be the dark horse of 2023 which has surpassed most of the records and even has now overcome Pathaan and Bahubaali:

The Conclusion making history. Gadar 2 has beaten both these two blockbusters when it comes to crossing the 450 crore mark. While Pathaan and Baahubali 2 took 18 and 20 weeks respectively to reach this target, Gadar 2 managed to do it in 17 days.

Now all eyes are on whether this Anil Sharma-helmed movie turns into the biggest blockbusters of all time crossing the lifetime earnings of Pathaan and Baahubali 2. Reflecting on the same when Anil Sharma was asked whether the sequel would overcome the SRK blockbuster and Rajamouli’s epic film he replied, “Our box office numbers are real not fake.”

While he has not directly called out Pathaan for fake box office numbers, it is an indication that he wants to hint that there should be no doubt about the figures when it comes to his sequel.

While there have been reports that Pathaan touched the 1000 crore mark, many have said that the figures are fake and that most of the collection was possible due to corporate booking as SRK wanted to prove his dominance with his comeback movie.

Even Kajol sometime ago took a dig at her colleague Shah Rukh Khan asking him to reveal the true earnings of Pathaan during one of her interviews.

In that context, this statement has a lot of meaning. However, he accepted that both KGF and Pathaan were big movies and said, “I don't believe in numbers. Pathaan has done exceptionally well, even KGF (Chapter 2) did extremely well, and now, Gadar 2 is performing as well. Now, let's see how far it goes, and how far the public takes it. It is the public's film."

Importantly, OMG 2 released alongside Gadar 2 with Akshay Kumar in an important role has also surpassed the 100 crore mark but trade analysts believe that it has benefitted due to the overwhelming response to Gadar 2.

According to trade analysts, in multiplexes, those who could not get a ticket for the Sunny Deol movie opted for OMG 2 instead of going home.
