Meanwhile, another cult classic has received a second chance to mesmerise the new-age audience. 1968's Hindi musical comedy flick, starring Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu, Kishore Kumar and Mehmood, made a comeback this week and the lead actress is all hearts.

Legendary singer coming on board as actor
Legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar played the role of Vidyapati in Padosan. Though he has acted in several movies earlier, in the lead, initially Kishore Da was not ready to play the role. It was Mehmood who convinced him to play the role after following him for around a month and spending a night in front of his house.
Kishore Da choreographed 'Meri Pyaari Bindoo'
'Meri Pyaari Bindoo' remains one of the most loved songs from Padosan. However, did you know that Kishore Da choreographed the romantic-humorous song? As per reports, the regular choreographer wasn't available for the song. Thus, Kishore Da volunteered to choreograph the sequence. He instructed the cast to follow his silly actions based on the lyrics. Well, the rest is history. The song sequence is still considered as one of the most funniest music videos.
Mehmood and Sunil Dutt's concern
Undoubtedly, Kishore Da's character portrayal as Vidyapati won the hearts of moviegoers. The audience loved Kishore Da's character. This raised concerns among Mehmood and Sunil Dutt. They got worried that Kishore Da's character would overshadow them as Vidyapati got more claps than the two lead characters. Later, Mehmood cut down a few scenes of Vidyapati to tone the character down.

Legendary comedian Mehmood shaved off his head to portray the character of Master Pillai. Mehmood sat on the verandah with his barber at 'Vrindaban Garden' palace to shave his head. As the barber chopped off his hair, tears rolled down his cheeks.
