Sports and entertainment have often gone hand-in-hand. In India, where cricket stands strong as the most dominant sport in most states, it is pretty common to find personalities from both industries having a strong attachment and respect for one another. Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat and his unsung bond with Sachin Tendulkar is one such story.
A video clip on Instagram recently surfaced featuring the 44-year-old talking about his following of cricket during a podcast interview. Incidentally, the actor revealed a major shocker stating that he had almost given up spectating Team India’s cricket matches after the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar.
In the video, Ahlawat was asked who he thought the best cricketer was and without breaking a sweat he uttered the Master Blaster’s name. “There is no one above Sachin Tendulkar, at least for me. In fact, I gave up watching cricket matches the day he retired.” the actor said.
Further, Jaideep Ahlawat had dedicated a post on his social media handles stating exactly the same about five years ago on the occasion of Tendulkar’s 47th birthday. “I will tell the coming Generations that I saw HIM playing in flesh and blood ... LIVE,” he had captioned that post in 2020.

Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket on November 16, 2013, after playing his 200th Test match against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after an illustrious 24-year-old cricketing career.
The farewell speech that Tendulkar gave on the day of his retirement engulfed the entire nation in tears and Jaideep Ahlawat was no exception. “I was there on Wankhede when Sachin retired. When I heard that speech, I remember, sitting there and crying with 60 to 70 thousand people,” the actor had said in the same podcast.
