2015's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, helmed by Kabir Khan, remains one of the most loved movies of Salman Khan. The movie also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Harshaali Malhotra, in major roles. The story of kind-hearted Bajrangi helping a mute Pakistani girl to reunite with her family touched the hearts of movie lovers. Now, speculations have been rife about a possible sequel to the massive blockbuster. However, filmmaker Kabir Khan has something else to say.

A couple of days back, Kabir Khan talked about Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 and also shared his stance on making sequels to successful movies.

Talking about the reason why Bajrangi Bhaijaan became successful, Kabir said that they were fortunate that people with the story and the characters they created. Further, he also acknowledged that Salman's immense popularity played a significant role in making the movie successful. He mentioned that all his projects with Sallu had the same fate.

Clearly specifying his stance on making sequels, Kabir said that people suggested making a sequel of every hit film he made, be it Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ek Tha Tiger or New York. However, he never followed the suggestions. In his opinion, a sequel should be made if there is a story that truly deserves to continue the original tale.

Taking about Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel, Kabir stated that if a compelling script comes along that will lead the story forward in an authentic way, he would consider it.

Further, he stated that the decision to make the sequel should not be solely based on the success of the first film. But, it should be made based on the strength of the new story.

Notably, Bajrangi Bhaijaan's story revolving around Pawan (Salman) and Munni (Harshaali) won the hearts of moviegoers and critics alike. Apart from Salman and Harshaali's stellar performances, Nawazuddin's impeccable character portrayal of Chand Nawab received high appreciation. The movie became a huge hit and remains the 7th highest-grossing Indian film of all time and the 4th highest-grossing Hindi film. While fans have been eagerly waiting for its sequel, it seems, Kabir won't start working on it unless he finds the right script that meets his standards for storytelling. Till then, fans need to wait with patience.

Notably, Kabir and Salman collaborated for Tubelight and Ek Tha Tiger, apart from Bajrangi Bhaijaan. However, he didn't helm Tiger Zinda Hai, a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger. After that, they haven't yet collaborated on any project.

Kabir Khan's last project was Chandu Champion, starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead. Reportedly, the gross collection of the movie was Rs 96 crore, which surpassed the production budget. The compelling storyline and stellar performances captivated the audience. Kartik stepped out of his comfort zone and the story resonated with the viewers.
