The makers of Nayanthara’s latest film ‘Annapoorani’ issued an apology to VHP for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and promoting love jihad. After receiving flak for controversial comments about Lord Ram and the wrong interpretation of Valmiki’s ‘Ramayana’, the makers finally issued an apology letter.
“We have no intentions as co-producers of the Film to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus and Brahmins community and would like to hereby apologize for the inconvenience caused and hurt caused to the sentiments of the respective communities,” the letter read.
The makers of ‘Annapoorani’ also stated that they were taking necessary steps to immediately remove the film from all OTT platforms until all the necessary changes are made.
“We are in the process of undertaking requisite actions to address your concerns in relations to the said film and also with Netflix to immediately remove the film from their platform until edited,” the letter added.
Notably, the film starring Jawan actress in the lead landed in controversy after a complaint was lodged in Mumbai. The FIR claimed that Nayanathara’s film has a character who says Lord Ram was a meat-eater. Furthermore, there is a lot of criticism of Lord Ram in the film.
On the other hand, there is a scene in the film that shows Nayanthara performing Namaz in Muslim attire before a cooking competition. ‘Annapoorani’ doctrines the journey of a Hindu Brahmin girl who aspires to be a chef, but struggles to cook non-veg food as she is the daughter of a Hindu priest.
