South Indian entertainment is going through turmoil as the feud between actors Nayanthara and Dhanush refuses to die down. The ‘Raja Rani’ actress was recently served with a Rs 10 crore lawsuit by the latter actor, following which she released an open letter with a list of accusations.
Amidst the ongoing controversy, Nayanthara has come under the ire of fans of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ actor Allu Arjun after an old video from 2016 resurfaced on various social media platforms.
In the viral video, Nayanthara can be seen refusing to accept the award for Best Actress from Allu Arjun for her film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan'. Instead, she requested her now-husband, director Vignesh Shivan, to present the award to her.
Nayanthara can be heard asking the presenters, “I actually wanted to take the award from him (Vignesh Shivan), so can I call them on stage if you please don’t mind?” as Allu Arjun looked along and then made way for Shivan.
In 2016, the incident had immediately created a stir. Fans of Arjun as well as entertainment followers, in general, considered Nayanthara’s move as a potential disrespect. Several angry comments and demands for an apology trended back then. Regardless, the actress stood by her decision.

Now, about eight years later, the storm created by the Nayanthara-Dhanush legal battle once again brought up this old video.
"I Hate Her From The Moment She Insulted Allu Arjun In The Award Function," wrote one user while another added, "It is just so so wrong".
Rather, this time around, several fans of Dhanush believed her to be deliberately defaming him, and thus, highlighted this clip as proof of her 'disrespect' to other prominent actors.
