Veteran Bollywood actress and Millennium Star Amitabh Bachchan’s wife Jaya Bachchan recently hogged the headlines after her statement that she doesn’t have a problem with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda having a child without marriage. Now, Navya responded to her grandmother’s statement.
Recently, Jaya on her podcast ‘What The Hell Navya’ with her granddaughter shared her opinion on dating, and romance and said that physical attraction is very important for a relationship to last longer. She also added that during ‘our times we couldn’t experiment.’ The veteran actress also mentioned that the physical aspect is ‘very very important’.
During the podcast session, Jaya also said that a relationship can’t last on love, fresh air and adjustment, adding that she doesn’t have a problem with Navya having a child without marriage.
Jaya said, "People will find it objectionable coming from me but physical attraction and compatibility are also very important. In our times we couldn't experiment but today the generation does and why shouldn't they? Because that also is responsible for a long-lasting relationship. If there isn't a physical relationship it's not going to last very long. You can't be last on love and fresh air and adjustment, I feel. It's very very important."
Comparing her generation with her daughter and granddaughter’s generation, she said, "Sometimes it's a pity but a lot of the younger lot, of course, we never could, we couldn't even think about it but the younger generation even after me, Shweta's generation, Navya's is a different ballgame, but they would feel guilty going through that experience and I think it's very wrong. It's okay and then you do things on the sly. If you had a physical relationship and you feel that still, my relationship otherwise not worked out you can be nice about it."
After such a statement from the veteran actress, social media is in splits with a lot of social media attention- positive as well as negative responses. Netizens trolled Jaya for having such thoughts and advice to the younger generation. Now, after a week, Navya has addressed it.
As per Navya, the entire intention of the podcast was to create a safe space for women, and they were able to do that. Further, she also mentioned that she felt confident and comfortable talking to Shweta and Jaya Bachchan about anything- relationships, friendships, and more.
During an interview with NDTV, Navya said “I think when you are putting yourself out there, whether it be podcast or work and all of us are on social media so everybody is watching you. I think that when you are putting yourself out there, you have to understand that something that you are sharing with the world, your opinions, people may agree, people may disagree, but I think that the purity and motivation behind this podcast have really nice fun intelligent conversations and I think we were able to do that.”
