Shaktimaan remains one of the most beloved TV shows. With Mukesh Khanna in and as Shaktimaan, the TV show aired in the 90s. Shaktimaan was indeed a groundbreaking and captivating series with its concept, storyline, character design, characters, costumes and visual effects. Most importantly, the costume of the superhero Shaktimaan was iconic and recognisable for its uniqueness. However, netizens think that Shaktimaan's iconic suit is a rip-off and that Mukesh Khanna 'stole' the costume from a WWE wrestler.

Mukesh Khanna 'Stole' Shaktimaan's Costume!
Recently, an X user uncovered footage of an old wrestling match from 1995 that shows a wrestler wearing a costume similar to Shaktimaan's suit.
In the WWF (now WWE) match, Aja Kong defeats Chaparati Asari. Reportedly, Asari debuted with a new costume in the match. Overall, Asari's costume is a red suit with golden armbands and shoulder pads. Interestingly, her costume had a golden emblem, resembling a sun and its rays or a flower with its spread petals or several leaves.
Well, Asari's costume looks remarkably similar to Shaktimaan's suit.
Sharing Mukesh Khanna aka Shaktimaan's picture along with a picture of Chaparati Asari, the user Caotic Djay captioned the post, "Lesser known fact: Mukesh Khanna ne #Shaktimaan ka costume 1995 WWF women’s wrestler Chaparita Asari se churaya tha." (sic)
Soon, the post went viral on social media, triggering reactions from netizens.
One user commented, "This is 100% copied." (sic)
Another wrote, "So much for originality." (sic)
Well, poking fun at 'Sorry Shaktimaan' segment associated with the TV show, a user wrote, "Ab khud ko sorry Shaktimaan bolna padega." (sic)
Most of the users remarked how similar the costumes of Asari and Shaktimaan looked.
Notably, the wrestling match was a part of WWF's Monday Night Raw and was aired in December 1995.
Not just the costume, Mukesh Khanna has been accused by social media users of plagiarising several characters in the show and their superpowers.

Shaktimaan- The first Indian superhero is all set to take the form of a trilogy for the big screen. The official announcement by Sony Pictures International Productions acquiring the film adaptation rights of the show and Mukesh Khanna confirmed the same, filling excitement among all. However, there have been no further official updates for a long time, with fans raising uncertainty over the project.
