Marry My Husband has emerged as the first Korean drama to top the Amazon Prime Video global chart. The revenge drama stars Park Min Young, Lee Yi Kyung, Na In Woo, and Song Ha Yoon in important roles. The last part of the drama ended this week and received its personal highest viewership ever. Nielsen Korea has reported that the 16th episode of the show received an average viewership of 12% which is higher than in previous episodes
Marry My Husband is a revenge drama
The Korean revenge drama is about a woman who gets a second chance in life and decides to take revenge on her husband, her friend, and every other person who did wrong to her. The focus is on Kang Ji Won’s life which is in trouble as her unemployed husband is in a huge debt and also it is about her mother who is diagnosed with cancer with limited time in hand.
But things become worse when she finds that her husband is cheating on her and having an affair with her close friend. It leads to a physical fight and she ends up getting murdered by her husband. Ten years after that she finds herself alive and then decides to take revenge on those who did wrong to her.
Now she decides to teach all of them a lesson that will change the fortune of not only her friend but even her. The woman is already battling a terminal health issue but now plans to take the place of her friend in the life of her husband and marry him so that the friend will suffer for what she did a decade ago. Simultaneously, she will be able to enjoy what she could not earlier.
Most of the critics have reviewed the story of Marry My Husband as a guilty pleasure. One of the reasons why the Korean drama fetched so many views even from Western countries was because it gives personal satisfaction and changes the mood of those who have been jilted and cheated in their relationships.
