Director Ashwin Kumar’s animated mythological epic Mahavatar Narsimha has stormed the box office, exceeding all expectations and setting unprecedented milestones for Indian animation. In just 10 days, the film has raked in an astounding Rs 91.25 crore domestically (Sacnilk), striking a deep emotional chord with audiences through its powerful portrayal of Bhakt Prahlad’s unwavering devotion and the fierce Narasimha avatar of Lord Vishnu.

A Record-Breaking Feat

According to its makers, Mahavatar Narsimha has surpassed Rs 105 crore in gross box office collections across India, officially becoming the country’s highest-grossing animated film ever.

Astonishingly, it has even outshone global animated favourites like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Kung Fu Panda at the Indian box office.

Pan-India Appeal in Multiple Formats

Released in both 2D and 3D, and dubbed in five languages, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, the film’s biggest triumph lies in its Telugu 3D version, which boasts an impressive 88.94% occupancy. The Hindi 3D version follows closely with a robust 68.30%. This multilingual and multi-format release has allowed Mahavatar Narsimha to transcend regional barriers and capture the hearts of a diverse audience nationwide.

The Beginning of a Mythological Universe

Produced by Kleem Productions and Hombale Films, the movie marks the first chapter in a planned cinematic universe inspired by the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. Upcoming instalments, including Mahavatar Parshuram and Mahavatar Kalki, are already in development, laying the groundwork for a mythological franchise unlike anything Indian animation has seen before.

Holding Strong Against Big Releases

Despite competition from star-studded films like Saiyaara and Dhadak 2, Mahavatar Narsimha continues its stellar theatrical run, propelled by its stunning visuals, emotionally charged storytelling, and spiritual depth.

As its success story unfolds, industry watchers believe Mahavatar Narsimha is poised to not only redefine Indian animation but also usher in a new era of culturally rooted, globally appealing storytelling from India.
