On August 14, Indian cinema is set for a monumental box office showdown as two highly anticipated films hit theatres on the same day. Superstar Rajinikanth and Tollywood King Nagarjuna are coming together in Coolie, promising their trademark larger-than-life action and charisma. Sharing the spotlight, War 2 brings together Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in a high-octane sequel to the blockbuster spy thriller.

With both films boasting massive star power, grand scale, and nationwide fan followings, this Independence Day weekend could witness one of the fiercest and most exciting clashes in Indian film history. However, do you know that Coolie's director, Lokesh Kangaraj, took inspiration from Christopher Nolan's Joker from The Dark Knight?

Nagarjuna Reveals Loki Taking Inspiration From Joker

Notably, Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is a great fan of DC movies, and he often takes inspiration from several Hollywood films to satisfy his childhood fanboy. And for his upcoming flick Coolie, he took reference from Christopher Nolan's Joker from The Dark Knight for his costumes.

During a candid conversation with Shruti Haasan, Tollywood King Nagarjuna, who is playing the villain in Coolie, is seen in costumes of a 'purple & cream’ colour combination. Talking about his costumes, Nagarjuna said, “I think Loki had Heath Ledger's Joker in his mind, and he wanted that madness. He probably saw the madness in the colour as well.”

The Bangarraju star further mentioned that he had never worn such colours before, making the experience truly refreshing.

“Loki told the dress designers. They got two or three options. He saw and said, ‘This is it. This is the one I want.’ I also had a jacket. Purple jacket. It was really good. I never wore those colours,” he said.

Nagarjuna To Be Seen in Strange Dress!

Talking about his costume, the Siva actor added, “It is a very strange dress. I mean, even for me, it's baggy pants.”

Shruti agreed to this and said, “It's kind of a mix of Heath Ledger and old Joker, as we know from the character.”

Well, Nagarjuna joked, “I'm glad he didn't put on that smile.”
