2003’s Hindi movie Koi Mil Gaya emerged as a blockbuster and still remains one of the most successful movies of Hrithik Roshan. Duggu teamed up with his father, Rakesh Roshan, to create the timeless classic. Following that, the father-son duo again teamed up for its sequel giving a new Indian superhero ‘Krrish’. After giving another blockbuster, they came up with a triquel of the franchise, Krrish 3 in 2013.
It’s been around a decade and fans are waiting eagerly for the 4th instalment of the franchise. The buzz around Krrish 4 has been quite high for a long time. However, no official update from the makers left movie lovers in confusion.
But, recently, both Hrithik and his father dropped a major update related to Krrish 4.
During an exclusive interaction at the Pinkvilla Masterclass, when asked about the scarcity of science fiction films in Indian cinema, Hrithik expressed his thoughts on the genre. The Agneepath actor said, "I do agree, and I keep encouraging everyone to venture into making science fiction and children's films. However, there seems to be hesitancy. I'm an avid science fiction enthusiast. In my view, any storyline can be adapted into a captivating sci-fi film."
In recent years, there has been speculation about the return of Jadoo in Krrish 4, signalling a resurgence of science-fiction in Bollywood, this time with a superhero twist. As one of the most prominent intellectuals in Indian cinema, the father-son duo of Rakesh and Hrithik are meticulous when it comes to the script's development.
During the event, Rakesh said, "I won't proceed with 'Krrish 4' until I am fully satisfied internally. Although we have a script in place, we continue to refine it. I believe there's room for enhancement. Given that our budgets can't match those of Hollywood, our content must be compelling and innovative within the superhero genre. We possess an excellent storyline, and we're in the process of perfecting it."
Papa Roshan believes that the script of Krrish 4 will captivate the audience's attention from the outset. With confidence, he stated, "If a script is strong, nothing can prevent a film from enchanting audiences. I am confident that our script will engage viewers within the first 15 minutes. The script of 'Krrish 4' is truly magical."
Agreeing with his father’s sentiment, Hrithik emphasized that neither he nor his father is driven by the pressures of making Krrish 4.
Duggu said, "My dad isn't solely motivated by the allure of a franchise. When discussing 'Krrish 4,' there's a certain level of creative restraint. One can't freely pen down whatever comes to mind. Factors such as budget constraints play a significant role in shaping the scenes we select, including the action sequences, which must align with our budget limitations. It's a challenging endeavour."
Well, such revelations by the Roshans certainly will accelerate anticipation among fans waiting for Krrish 4. And as per the revelations, it can be anticipated that Rakesh and Hrithik may set new bars of sci-fi genre in Indian cinema with Krrish 4.
