Eminent playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, breathed his last on May 31 this year leaving music lover startled. It was an irreparable loss for the music industry and music lovers.
KK's enchanting voice went silent during his last stage show in Kolkata. KK fell sick while he was performing at a function in Nazrul Manch organised by the Gurudas College. After returning to his hotel, the singer complained of uneasiness following which he was rushed to a hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead.
His professionalism and dedication were quite clear from the incident as despite feeling uneasy, he did complete his show. Though he constantly requested to switch off the spotlights and at intervals, he was going backstage to take rest. Besides, he did not even once express his desire to quit the show in between.
Several distressing videos of the event went viral raising concerns over the arrangements at the event. But, the loss had already happened.
While fans and music lovers are still mourning the loss, a recent video that has surfaced on social media clearly defines that KK was destined to rule the hearts of music lovers.
The recent video shows KK in the recording studio while dubbing the parts of 'Chhod Aaye Hum Woh Gaaliyan' from Gulzar's Maachis. While KK was on the mic, Gulzar was completely focused on the singer.
The noted poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter and director is seen enjoying the recording session and showering praises on KK frequently. The dubbing session will certainly give goosebumps to any listener.
Notably, KK made his Bollywood debut as a playback singer with "Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil Se" from Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai starrer Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However, prior to that he had dubbed for the parts of 'Chhod Aaye Hum Woh Gaaliyan'. It was the Tadap Tadap song that became a turning point in his life.
Without any formal training in music, KK recorded innumerable super-hit songs. In his early life, KK struggled to establish himself in the competitive recording industry, resorting to singing at hotels to make ends meet.
KK had an emotional bandwidth which echoed all the seasons of the heart. He could be frivolous, romantic and anguished. The list of his hit numbers include, Tadap Tadap, Bardaasht Nahi Kar Sakta, Dus Bahane, Aankhon Mein Teri, Zara Sa, Khuda Jane, Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai, Tu Aashiqui Hai, Sajde, Zindagi Do Pal Ki and many more.
KK lived in the hearts of his fans and music lovers and will remain for eternity.
