The trailer of Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor’s upcoming movie Jug Jugg Jeeyo was released today. The trailer also features a glimpse of the song Nach Punjaban from the movie. Pakistani singer and politician Abrar Ul Haq has claimed that Dharma Productions has illegally used his song in the movie without taking any permission.
According to the Pakistani singer, around six of his songs have been copied by various Bollywood moviemakers.
The musician from Pakistan has said that he has not sold the rights of this song to anyone and hence, if the need arises he may also take legal action against Karan Johar’s production house. Fans and followers of Abrar from Pakistan have slammed KJO and Bollywood for copying the song and took a jibe saying, “Kuch to kabhi original karo.”
Amid all the chaos that these allegations have created on social media, an Indian writer has come forward saying that the famous Indian production house has used his story for Jug Jugg Jeeyo without taking his permission.
According to the writer Vishal A. Singh, he had registered his story, Bunny Rani, in January 2020 with @swaindiaorg and mailed it to Dharma Movies requesting the production house to give him an opportunity to co-produce the story with them. And now, according to Vishal, they have used the same story for Jug Jugg Jeeyo without intimating him. The writer also shared a screenshot of his mail to Dharma which clearly indicates that he indeed shared the concept with Dharma.
Now, it needs to be seen how Karan and his team react to these allegations from both Abrar Ul Haq and Vishal Singh. While the production house, either way, is expected to settle this matter soon, it is indirectly creating a big hype for Jug Jugg Jeeyo.
